The Steward Board

The Pastor appointed by the Bishop to a local church shall appoint the members of the
Steward Board. All Stewards serve for a one year term. They are confirmed at the Quarterly Conference by the Presiding Elder annually. The Stewards serve as the Pastor's cabinet and provide care for the Pastor and his family. They are also responsible for the over all religious experience of the church.They manage the temporal concerns of Bethel.  The members must know and love the African Methodist Episcopal doctrine and discipline.

Help our church to win souls for Christ, work on retention of those who unite with us, and discover means to attract others to worship and serve with us (e.g. Demographics.)

Help our church and community become more aware and involved in issues relating to economics, voting, housing, temperance, world peace, race relations, and other area that speaks to us in our everyday lives.

The Elliot J. Mayfield Ensemble (The EJM)

For members who want to sing for the Lord and lead our congregation in song during worship. The musical style is Contemporary Gospel.   For more information please Contact Sis. Emma Davis.

Voice of Praise

The Baxter Redfern Angel Choir

For those youth of our church ages 4 –12 who desire to sing for Jesus and lead our church in worship through song during worship. The musical style is Contemporary Gospel suited for young people.


Sis. Esther Whitehead

The Senior Gospel Choir

For any adult member (male and female) who desires to sing for the Lord and lead our congregation in song during worship. The musical style is Anthems, Spirituals and Traditional Gospel. For more information contact Sis. Yvonne Foster or Sis. Esther Whitehead.


 


The Men's Chorus

For any male member desiring to sing on Men’s Day and other Men’s Day services in the community. The musical style is Traditional Gospel.  For more information contact Bro. Bruce Williams.


Reverence of Joy Liturgical Dance Ministry

The Rebecca Tanner Nurses Unit


The Evelyn Thompson Last Minute Ministry

The Last Minute Club was organized to help the church both financially and spiritually.  The function of this club is to help with the church with any projects that need to be done.  This club has done great things in Bethel, including buying a church van and installing glass doors in the front of the church.  For more information please see Sister Dora Wright.

The Hostess Club

The Hostess Club's function is to welcome vistors and new members to Bethel Church during worship service and to serve or assit other ministries when called upon. 


 

The Lillian B. Crawford Women's Missionary Society

 The Senior Missionary Society was organized in 1922 under the administration of Rev. E.H.Collins. In 1947, under Rev. G.T. Sims, the name was changed to the Lillian B. Crawford Missionary Society in honor of Mrs. Crawford, one of the organizers and President. Purpose, to foster Missionary activities in the church, community and aboard. Some of our Missionary out reach include, serving hot meals at St Lukes the 4th Thursday of each month, preparing and giving out Thanksgiving basket, and entertaining our Seniors at a annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party, this is just to mention a few activities. The Mary Green, Lucy Hughes, Sarah Allan and Carrie M. Terrell Stewardess Boards

Must be appointed by the pastor and will serve on a rotation basis to help prepare for Communion, Clean up after Communion, Prepare and Clean up after Love Feast, assist with Communion. Stand for the Invitation to Christian Discipleship on Sundays, and prepare for and assist with Baptisms when scheduled.


 
 

The Rosemary Floral Club

The Floral Club was organized in 1945, under the administration of Rev. G.T. Sims, Jr.
Rev. Sims and the members of the Club agreed to name the group after Mrs. Mary Gilmore who donated property to the church. However, Mrs. Gilmore suggested the name Rosemary Floral Club. Our objectives are to beautify the altar with flowers every Sunday and provide seasonal plants, as poinsettias Easter lilies and spring plants in front of the church. Our annual event is our angel tree at Christmas as we memorialize our loved ones.  For more information please contact Sis. Karen McKeithen.
